Of Silat Cekak Pusaka Hanafi...

WHAT IS SILAT?
According to Malaysia Dictionary 3rd Edition produced by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (Kamus Dewan), Silat is martial art knowledge for Malays. It is an art of intelligence fighting by mastering skill for self defending and to attack.

MEANING OF CEKAK
Cekak has several meaning in different slangs. Among them are:
v  Makan Cekak – (Kedah local)
v  Cakak – (Minangkabau) – fight
v  Cheka –(Jawanese) – simple
v  Cekak – (Bawean) – hard
v  Cekak – Unite

Persekutuan Seni Silat Cekak Pusaka Ustaz Hanafi Malaysia is an association registered with/under Malaysia’s Registrar of Society, engaging in social welfare and martial arts activities. It is a martial art of the wisdom and knowledge behind the art of self defence that truly been practiced and made known by late Ustaz Hanafi b. Hj. Ahmad. This art of self defence is being acknowledged to have systematic learning module, concept, philosophy, and having rightful genealogy of a true Guru.

YM Sheikh DR Hj.Md. Radzi bin Hj. Hanafi Al Qadahi is the fourth son of late Ustaz Hanafi. He is the True Heir (Pewaris Mutlak) of Silat Cekak, founded by his father. There is ONLY ONE true Guru at a time. The Guru who leads Silat Cekak is called Guru Utama; not Mahaguru. The True Heir of Silat Cekak; YM Sheikh DR Hj.Md. Radzi bin Hj. Hanafi Al Qadahi has received PHD (Dr.) by Asia Pacific Open University of Martial Art (APACMA) on July 2012. YM Guru Utama also awarded 2013 Figure of Art Activist (ANUGERH TOKOH PENGGIAT SENI 2013).

OBJECTIVES
v  To uphold and instill the love of true Malay culture.
v  To expel and eliminate all kinds of superstitious believes in Silat which are against Islamic teachings.

BASIC MOVEMENT
v  Standing upright as if we are to perform solat.
v  No dodging or rearward movements.
v  Each movement is complete with locks, repelling steps, strikes and bolts.
v  No usage of legs and feet when attacking opponents. 
v  Bare handed.
v  Pure and unsoiled from superstitious believes.
v  Normal human being movement.
v  Requires no supernatural strength or excessive training.
v  Inspired from the movement of Solat.

MAIN FEATURES
v  True self defence Silat.
v  Authentic Malay Silat.
v  Lessons taught systematically (by modules).
v  Emphasises on standing upright posture (ready mode).
v  To train three times a week and able to complete within seven months.
v  Ready mode – standing upright posture (in prayer).
v  No dodging method or stepping backwards.
v  Each lesson completes with repelling, striking and locking techniques.
v  No usage of feet and legs while attacking (If any).
v  Requires no weapon.
v  Unspoiled from any kinds of all superstitious believes.

MODULE SYSTEM
v  Buah Asas (Basic level)
v  Buah Jatuh (Intermediate Level)
v  Buah Potong (Advanced Level)
v  Tamat dan Buah Serang (End stage and Attacking movement)
v  Buah Umum (Open combat)
v  Total of 21 lessons

Silat Cekak Pusaka Hanafi Uniform, only allowed to wear after reaching End Stage.
White belt is for all students who had reached End Stage. Red belt is for those trainers who had been acknowledge by the Guru Utama. Yellow belt is worn only by Guru Utama.

PRINCIPLES OF CEKAK
Silat Cekak members are bound and prohibited to break the five codes as follows:
1.       One shall not go against one’s Guru
2.       One shall not disobey one’s mother
3.       One shall not disobey one’s father
4.       No infighting amongst members
5.       Respect other authentic Malay’s martial arts 

MORAL VALUES
v  Instills the belief that we are responsible to look after ourselves.
v  Instills high appreciation of good deeds mainly Guru, mother and father.             
v  Always encourage unity and teamwork among members.           
v  Instills good attitude (brave, be true, integrity and intelligent).
